OOPS

My project broke!

People were fondling her, but she is not interactive :(

I thought of bringing a few “do not touch” signs, but that felt like overkill!

There is no such thing as overkill when it comes to new media art shows

I had it running perfectly for several hours that day and then just before opening night, the display’s driver board was broken beyond repair, possibly due to someone thinking it was a touch screen and handling it roughly. For future iterations I will mount the screen inside in a way that supports the ribbon cable more.

On the right you can see what the screen looked like.

I couldn’t get a replacement display delivered in time.

Here’s what I did

I ubered to the Santa Fe Walmart, Michaels, and Daiso and purchased:

A DVI cable, an Ethernet cable, and a couple pairs of cheap, pink, wired headphones

And I gutted them, tangling the colorful insides up and installing them inside the head.

Here are some of the animations you would have seen had she been working on opening night of Current New Media Festival, 2025
